Knowledge Management Module

The Knowledge Management module for KnowAll uses web technology to enable your users to search for and find unpublished technical, 'know-how' or information documents. Using it with KnowAll's library catalogue means your end users have a one-stop source for published and unpublished information - they only have to learn one interface and one taxonomy. The Knowledge Management module will also be available as a stand-alone application soon.

Users can:

  • Search meta data only or document content as well.
  • Choice of combined Library and KM, or KM only search.
  • Browse and search through the subject taxonomy.
  • Set-up personal topic alerts so when new items are added to the collection the user gets an automatic email.

Editors can:

  • Create and edit profiles for unpublished technical or ‘know-how’ documents
  • Subject Index – assign as many appropriate keywords from your taxonomy as you wish
  • Assign document types for easy retrieval
  • Create an author authority list
  • Set review dates
  • Review and amend documents and their profiles

System administrators can:

  • Create new fields
  • Create and edit values in the drop down lists, e.g. for document types, work types, departments, etc
  • Set system parameters
  • Assign editorial rights
  • Define system content

In order to minimise effort in profiling documents, the KM moduke can be set up to work with your with document management system or network folders to collect title, author and profile data from that source.
